Initiation to volume modeling

The exercises can be done either with Solidworks software from Dassault Systeme or Fusion 360 from Autodesk

First day —> Sketches and Volume
Creation of sketches and cotation, extrusion by addition or removal of material
Linear and circular repetitions, reference geometries, drawing and export to manufacturing preparation software.

Second day —> The assemblies
Mechanical connections, adaptation of assemblies according to the envisaged manufacturing (milling, laser or plasma cutting, 3D printing)
Add and remove stresses between parts of an assembly. Modify a part with the pieces assembled around it.

Third day —> Initiation to organic design with fusion software 360

Principle of T-spline, transition from surface design to volume design
Preparation and adaptation of design for manufacture by digital milling or 3d printing

Information on T-splines use by Fusion 360 for organic design

Digital production workshop

Before training —> acquisition of basic requirements
You will receive a password allowing you to independently consult certain concepts in order to save time and devote the maximum amount of time during the workshop in practical exercises and manipulations.
Here some exemples : Origine setting – Introduction of 3D machining – Steppers motors – Transmission systems for CNC – What software to switch from pixel to real

First day —>  Assembly and machine testing

Mechanical assembly and electrical wiring
Explanations of the technologies used (translation and driving, stepper motors, electronic control, etc.)

Second day —> Paramétrages et tests

Software, Firmware Options, Gcode Language, Failures, Symptoms, and Resolution
2d cutting machining tests (example cutting carriage covers)

Third day —> Parameters and tests

morning :  2D machining settings
Tools, clamping, cutting and advance speeds, initiation with CAMBAM and Fusion 360 software
Tests of external and internal cut-outs, engravings and machining of pockets

afternoon : 3D machining settings
Optimization of machining times, 3D sculpting zones inside a 2D machining
Implementation with CAMBAM and Fusion 360 software on different examples

4th day —> 3D printing training

– morning : Knowledge of hardware and software, printing tests

afternoon : Print defects, where do they come from? How to solve them?
Adapt its design to 3D printing, shapes that require support or not
